Paula George

Paula George

Name: Paula George

Subject you are training in: Design Technology

What were you doing prior to becoming a teacher?

I worked as a buyer, designer and design consultant for major clothing retailers, then, having moved to Maidstone with young children I started a retail and wholesale cake and biscuit business. Since selling the business ten years ago I have been teaching private craft workshops and working for Kent Adult Education as a fashion textiles tutor.

Why did you choose to train through VITSA?

Valley Park School has a good reputation and I was impressed by the visible presence of art, design and technology facilities and student work in the school. This indicates that the school values this aspect of the curriculum.

What motivated you to become a teacher?

I have taught throughout my professional career and have been enjoying the teaching work for Kent Adult Education.
